About Us
For 50 years, Pat & The Elephant has provided dignified, accessible transportation to the people of Prince Edward Island — connecting our community, one ride at a time.
50 years of moving
our community forward
Founded in 1975, Pat & The Elephant began with a simple but powerful mission: to ensure that people with mobility challenges in Prince Edward Island could access the same opportunities, appointments, and social connections as everyone else.
Over five decades, we've grown from a small community initiative into a trusted nonprofit operating a modern fleet of accessible vehicles — serving thousands of trips each year across Charlottetown and beyond.
Our two core service lines — Wheelchair Services and Stretcher Services — reflect the diverse needs of our community. Whether it's a trip to a medical appointment, a family celebration, or inter-provincial medical transport, we're here to help.
In 2026, we expanded our mission by launching Cudmore's Cab, an on-demand accessible taxi pilot serving the Charlottetown, Stratford, and Cornwall capital region.
